Named Woman of the Year in Mexico City by Chilango Magazine in 2016, she has been called a “leading exhibitor of stand-up comedy in Mexico and Latin America”, being a pioneer of the genre.
Her Netflix special - Sofía Niño de Rivera: Exposed, which she recorded in 2016, made her the first woman to record a Spanish-language special of the genre for that company. Her success led her to record a second Netflix special called Natural Selection and she has presented shows in prestigious venues such as the Gotham Comedy Club in New York and the National Auditorium in Mexico City.
As an actress, she starred in her own YouTube Premium comedy series called Sobreviví, marking her debut as a producer on an original scripted series. She has also participated in Club de Cuervos, the hit Netflix series, Una Mujer Sin Filtro, written by Nicolás López and directed by Luis Eduardo Reyes, and Recuperando a mi Ex, directed by Gabriel Guzmán Sánchez.
She has appeared as a lecturer in various forums, including: Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, D.C, Eleva Mexicali Forum, even being invited by the Presidency to share a dialogue with President Enrique Peña Nieto. She also has two talks at TEDx, and has collaborated in advertising campaigns with brands such as: Nescafé, Fisher-Price and Baileys.
